If you intend on taking astro-images with any telescope it must first be polar aligned. When I ordered my RCX400 I started looking around for possible wedge solutions that were of the highest quality. After a few searches and reading many astronomy news group recommendations I kept finding myself at the same place; Mitty Observatory Machine Shop.
I was expecting to have more time prior to ordering the wedge because the 10" RCX400's were not going to ship until after the 12" ones. Well, when I got an Email stating that my RCX was on its way, I had to scramble a bit. I ordered my wedge from Mitty and was contacted immediately by Frank (Frank Sperl is owner operator). He was very helpful and I found working with him very enjoyable. Since the details of the new telescope were not available to the public, it was difficult for vendors to verify if there would be any differences between the LX200GPS series telescopes or not. Well, there are a few differences and Frank made sure to get everything right (he even altered a piece of the tripod for me).
The "Stealth" version of the Evolution Wedge really makes it all come together. This all black model really is quite impressive. The perfectly machined surfaces and unbelievably smooth Latitude and Azimuth adjustment assemblies are incredible. This wedge is truly a piece of art and an indispensable astro-imaging component. I would recommend this wedge to anyone (I promise you won't be disappointed). There is also a European model for those of you on the other side of the Atlantic!
